  • Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar belonged to the Bettada Kote family and was the only son of Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs and Princess Leela Tripurasundari Devi.

  • After completing his schooling in Bangalore, Yaduveer Krishnaraja Datta Wadiyar moved to the United States to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English literature and Economics.
  • In February 2015, he moved back to India.
  • In February 2015, Yaduveer was adopted by Pramoda Devi as an heir to take the position of head of the Wadiyar family and the King of Mysore after the death of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar in 2013.
  • On 23 February 2015, a formal and legal adoption ceremony took place at the Amba Vilas Palace in Mysore after which Yaduveer was named Yaduveer Krishnaraja Datta Wadiyar and the future Maharaj of Mysore.

  • According to various reports, many members of the Royal Family of Mysore did not agree with the decision of Yaduveer’s adoption.
  • After the adoption, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar returned to the United States to complete his graduation.
  • In an interview, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar revealed that he was scared of the title before he became the king. He said,

    Once I was past this initial phase I was able to comprehend and fully understand the various responsibilities of the position. I didn’t have to anticipate taking up the responsibility until very recently. The areas I would like to focus on are cultural tourism, heritage protection, development and understanding of Indian spirituality and most importantly environment related initiatives.”

  • On 28 May 2015, the coronation ceremony of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar as the 27th king took place at the Mysore Palace which the Mysore Royal Family and many other royals from the country attended.

  • Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar holds many positions including the president/trustee of Sri Jayachamarajendra Ursu Education Trust in Mysore, Ambassador/ Advisory Board Member of the Kalisu Foundation in Mysore, and Trustee of the Sri Jayachamrajendra Art Gallery in Mysore.
