In December 1999, he began working as a Regional Operations Manager and Team Commander (Captain) in the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces). He served in the position till August 2007.
From September 2007 to March 2009, Vikrant Kumar Jaitley worked as Deputy Chief of Operations (DCOO) on projects in the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East.
In the Middle East, he served in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan as part of the United Nations force in Lebanon. He then handled projects in the Central Asian region.

In 2008, Vikrant Kumar Jaitley made headlines when he was hurt in a road accident during his tenure in the army cantonment in Madhya Pradesh, India.
His sister, Celina Jaitly, stated in a media conversation that he lay on the road, bleeding and unattended, for 25 minutes as people around only watched without helping. She said that he could have died because no one came to his aid.

In March 2009, Vikrant Kumar Jaitley began working as a Senior Manager of Technical Training with the rank of Major at the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in Bangalore, India. He served in the position till April 2011.
During this period, he led the Defence Training Team and was honoured with the Chief of the Army Staff Commendation for his training of SWAT teams.
Vikrant Kumar Jaitley served as Regimental Centre Adjutant (Major) and Senior Operations Manager and Admin in the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) from March 2011 to March 2013 in Bangalore, India.
From May 2013 to April 2014, he worked as Director of Operations Support at the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces).

In November 2016, he was appointed as the CEO and Managing Partner at Mātiti Group in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It was co-founded by Charul C Jaitly and Vikrant Jaitly.
In January 2017, Vikrant Kumar Jaitley began working as a Senior Principal Consultant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He served in the position till October 2017.

From October 2017 to May 2018, he served as a Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Eagle Hunters Global in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In January 2018, he began working as the CEO and Managing Partner of Activity Network in Mumbai, India.
In March 2018, he co-founded Mātiti People, which is a part of Mātiti Group.

Her plea raised serious concerns about Vikrant Jaitley’s safety. It said that there was no clear information about the charges or the investigation.
In November 2025, Celina Jaitly went to the Delhi High Court for help. She asked the court to take action for her brother, Vikrant Jaitley, who had been held in the United Arab Emirates for more than 14 months.
She asked the Indian government, through the Ministry of External Affairs, to help her brother. She requested proper legal and medical support for her brother.
Soon, Justice Sachin Datta of the Delhi High Court sent a notice to the Central government. The court ordered the government to report within four weeks on the detention case of Major Retired Vikrant Kumar Jaitly.
Celina Jaitly hired lawyers Raghav Kacker and Madhav Agarwal to represent her brother’s case in the Delhi High Court.
The government’s counsel said that Vikrant Kumar Jaitley had been living in the UAE since 2016 and worked for a company that deals with trading, consultancy, and risk management.
They added that there was little information about why he was detained or what the alleged charges were.
Celina Jaitly claimed that she contacted every possible way to get help from the Ministry of External Affairs for her brother.
She had also filed a complaint on the MADAD portal and sent written appeals to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai.
Celina said that she personally met Ministry officials and spent a lot of time, effort, and money seeking help.
She mentioned that her brother got only four consular visits in May, June, August, and September 2025, even though he had been detained for more than a year.
She also claimed that the Ministry of External Affairs marked her complaint on the MADAD portal as ‘closed’ while her brother’s case was still unsolved.
After the November 2025 hearing, the court ordered the authorities to arrange legal help for Vikrant Kumar Jaitly.
The court also directed them to make sure he could communicate with his family. Celina described the decision as a ‘ray of hope’ for her family.
