Some Lesser Known Facts About Vidushi Swaroop

• Vidushi Swaroop is an Indian standup comedian and engineer. She is known for her comedy performances at various shows like “The Habitat” and “The Social House.”

• Reportedly, in 2016, she became a part of Cinefilia, the Dramatics & Filmmaking Society of Manipal University, Jaipur, but she left in 2018. Here, she worked as a Street Play Representative.

• Vidushi Swaroop took part in the Great Indian Laughter Challenge show in 2017 but got eliminated.

• From December 2018 to January 2019, she worked as an intern at Culture Machine Media Private Limited in Mumbai, Maharashtra. From October 2018 to February 2020, Vidushi Swaroop worked as a marketing team member at Howdybuddy in Jaipur. In February 2018, she became a stand-up comedian and has performed at various comedy shows at “The Habitat” and “The Social House.”

  

• In February 2019, Vidushi Swaroop joined the marketing team of TechSamvaad Private Limited in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, and worked there till February 2020.

• In February 2020, she began working as a Domain Support VAS Engineer at Ericsson in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

• In October 2023, Vidushi Swaroop came into the limelight when she was trolled online for describing prostitution as a “cool profession” in a viral video of one of her stand-up acts. The online backlash came when she talked about the “experience” in the profession and highlighted perceived differences. The comments sparked anger on the internet. ^[3]NDTV Soon after her video went viral on social media, the well-known poet and politician Kumar Vishwas criticized Vidushi Swaroop on Twitter. ^[4]IndiaTimes Kumar wrote,
  

  In fact, this is not only absurd but also inhuman. This insensitive joke is just a glimpse of today’s so-called stand-up presentations that constantly make fun of vulgar and cultural values. Fortunately, no male presenter did this cheap thing, otherwise, all the commissions would have woken up. Shame on those who laughed.”

  To counter the increased trolling, Vidushi Swaroop later spoke about the situation on her Instagram by sharing a story. ^[5]India Today Vidushi wrote,
