• He belongs to a Tamil family of music artists in Tamil Nadu.

• After completing his graduation in London, he started singing for demos for his cousins Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja and worked as a playback singer in the Tamil film industry.

• Later, he started working as an actor in films as a main lead but due to various reasons, his first three films were shelved. Later, he started appearing in character roles in Tamil films.

• In 1996, he with his brother Premgi Amaren and S. P. B. Charan formed a music band called Next Generation.

• Some of the people with whom he frequently collaborates while working on Tamil films are Premgi Amaren, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Praveen K. L., and Shakthi Saravanan.
