• Vasan Bala grew up in Matunga, Mumbai.

  

• In his teenage, he did karate training for a year at the Gujarati Seva Mandal.

• After completing his graduation, he worked at a bank for a few years. However, after a few years, he decided to quit his bank job and focus on his passion for filmmaking.

• In 2008, he played a small role in the Hindi film ‘Aamir.’

• Initially, he assisted various filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap and Michael Winterbottom. He worked as an assistant director in a few Hindi films like ‘Dev D’ (2009), ‘Gulaal’ (2009), and ‘Trishna’ (2011).

• He has penned down the scripts of various Hindi films like ‘Bombay Velvet’ (2015), ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ (2016), ‘Rukh’ (2017), and ‘Jigra’ (2024).

• As a director, his debut film Peddlers was nominated for the Golden Camera Award at Cannes.

• Some of his Hindi films as a director are ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’ (2019), ‘Monica, O My Darling’ (2022), and ‘Jigra’ (2024).

  

• He is an avid animal lover and owns a pet dog named Shiro.

• In 2024, after the release of the Hindi film Stree 2, he forgot to mention the name of Shraddha Kapoor; the lead actress of the film in his appreciation post. He received criticism from the netizens for this. Later, he apologised to Shraddha and her fans.
