Some Lesser Known Facts about Varsha Usgaonkar

• Varsha Usgaonkar grew up in Goa.

• Varsha wanted to join the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune after 10th grade. However, admissions were closed then, and her father advised her to complete her graduation before pursuing a career in acting.

• Varsha was introduced to theatre by one of her father’s friends, who was a renowned theatre director. She went on to perform in many Marathi theatrical productions like ‘Mahapur,’ ‘Ek Hoti Waghin,’ ‘Andhra Majha Sobti,’ and ‘Baaki Itihaas.’

• She has appeared in many Marathi films like ‘Hamaal De Dhamaal’ (1989), ‘Kuthe Kuthe Shodhu Mi Tila’ (1990), ‘Jeeva Sakha’ (1991), ‘Dhyaas Parva’ (2001), ‘Arjun’ (2011), ‘Bhavishyachi Aishi Taishi’ (2017), and ‘Sher Shivraj’ (2022).

  

• She has appeared in some Hindi films like ‘Saathi’ (1991), ‘Dilwale Kabhi Na Hare’ (1992), ‘Beta Ho To Aisa’ (1994), ‘Style’ (2001), ‘Mr Ya Miss’ (2005), ‘Super Nani’ (2014), and ‘Ardhangini Ek Ardhsatya’ (2016).

  

• Varsha has also worked in some television series including DD National’s ‘Chandrakanta’ (1994) (Hindi), Zee TV’s ‘Vishnu Puran’  (2001), and Star Pravah’s ‘Man Udhan Varyache’ (2009-2011) (Marathi).

  

• Varsha has worked in some Bengali, Rajasthani, and Konkani films like ‘Sei To Abar Kache Ele’ (1999), ‘Kangana’ (2016), and ‘Benddkar’ (2019) respectively.

  

• In 2024, she appeared as a contestant in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss Marathi 5,’ which aired on Colors Marathi and streamed on JioCinema.

  

• Varsha has also sung some Konkani songs in collaboration with the singer Ulhas Buyao for the album ‘Roop Tujem Laita Pixem’ (2019).

  

• She has a passion for dancing and once took lessons in Kathak.

• Varsha is often referred to as the “Sridevi” of Marathi cinema.

• Varsha is an avid animal lover and has a few pet cats named Narmada and Yamuna.
