  • She grew up in a family of farmers.
  • Soon after completing her education, Vanathi Srinivasan began practising law in 1993. She worked for Shri. B. S. Gnanadesikan, a senior advocate and former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President.
  • She has practised law in the Chennai High Court for more than two decades.
  • Vanathi Srinivasan has served as Standing Counsel for Southern Railway and the Union Government.
  • From 1988 to 1993, she was a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
  • She is a former board member of the Central Board of Film Certification.
  • Vanathi Srinivasan joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1993 as a party worker. She has held various positions in the BJP since 1999.
  • In 2010, she attended the US State Development for Young Leadership Programme as a guest.

  • A huge increase in the value of her assets, mainly through shares from Zylog Systems, raised doubts about Vanathi Srinivasan in 2016. Reportedly, Zylog Systems was associated with alleged stock market scams and bank frauds,
  • Sankara Narayanan and Balasubramaniya Adithyan from the BJP claimed that her family earned these assets through corruption and misuse of political power.
  • Many media houses reported that her brother, Shivakumar Kandhasamy, worked as the Vice President of Zylog Systems between 2011 and 2016. He was involved in fraudulent activities.
