Some Lesser Known Facts About Usha Kumara

• Usha Kumara is an Indian weightlifter and powerlifter who has participated in several national and international competitions.

• During her college days, she engaged in powerlifting, partaking in the Senior State Powerlifting Championship in 2014 in Moodbidri, Karnataka. That same year, she entered the Subrata Classic International Powerlifting Championship in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. Her journey continued with the All India Inter-University Powerlifting Championship at Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 2017.

  

• In 2017, she achieved a record in the women’s 84 kg category for Mangalore University inter-college powerlifting, lifting a total of 412.5 kg. ^[6]Mangalore University

  

• Transitioning to weightlifting in 2018, she participated in various weightlifting events, including the 33rd Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships in Moodbidri, Mangalore, Karnataka (January 2018), the 34th Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (February 2019), the 35th Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships in Kolkata, West Bengal (February 2020).

  

• She later competed in the 36th Women Senior National Weightlifting Championships in Patiala, Punjab (August 2021), the IWLF Youth Junior And Senior National Weightlifting Championships in Bhubaneswar, Odisha (March 2022), and the 36th National Games in Gandhinagar, Gujarat (September-October 2022).

  

• She also participated in the Singapore Weightlifting International (February 2022) and competed in the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK (July-August 2022), securing the 6th position in the under 87 kg category.

  

• In 2018, she was chosen for the role of a Forest Guard. Subsequently, she became a part of the Indian Northeast Railways, where she is presently employed in the Lucknow division of the Indian Railways. ^[7]Forest Recruitment
