• Umair Ibn Lateef was born and raised in Jammu & Kashmir. He is known as the first Kashmiri actor to star in Kollywood films.

• Although his parents live in Tamil Nadu, where his father runs a shop in Mamallapuram that sells various items, including Kashmiri silk and handicrafts, Lateef lived in Srinagar with his grandparents and studied there until completing his higher secondary education.

• In 2018, he moved to Tamil Nadu and took admission in Hindustan University, where he completed his graduation.

• Umair is multilingual in Tamil, English, Kashmiri, Urdu and Hindi. In an interview, he revealed that he learnt Tamil from his friend during his college time.
