• Temba Bavuma is a South African cricketer, golfer, and businessman who has played in many World Cups. He is the Black African to captain the national team in all formats of cricket. Many cricket commentators praise his batting technique.

• While talking about his childhood in an interview, he revealed that he played games such as cricket, rugby, tennis, and soccer (football) as a child. His favourite game was soccer; however, after moving to Johannesburg at the age of twelve, he met his two uncles who moulded his interest towards cricket.

  

• In 2001, while studying in 6th grade at the South African College Schools (SACS), he was asked to write a letter about where he saw himself in the next 15 years. In his letter, Bavuma wrote that he saw himself shaking the hand of the South African President and playing for the South African national team. When he made his national team debut in 2014, his fans were amazed.

  

• He started his domestic career by playing for Soweto Cricket Club. On 2 October 2008, he made his first-class debut for Gauteng against Eastern Province in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge Tournament. On 5 October 2008, he played his debut List A (one-day) match for Gauteng against Eastern Province in the Provincial One-Day Challenge Tournament.

  

• On 2 October 2011, he made his T20 debut for Gauteng against Griqualand West in the CSA Provincial T20 Challenge Tournament and scored 70 runs off 49 balls, making his first T20 half-century.

• In the 20098-09 season, he made his debut for South Africa Under-19. In the 2012 season, he debuted for the South Africa A side.

• Bavuma scored his first test fifty in July 2015 with 54 runs against Bangladesh in the first innings. He made his first test century in January 2016 with 102 runs not out against England in the first innings. In March 2023, he scored 172 runs against West Indies in the second innings of the test match.

  

• On his ODI debut, he scored his first ODI hundred by scoring 113 runs against Ireland. He made his maiden ODI half-century on 4 February 2020 with 98 runs against England. He scored 144 runs against the West Indies on 18 March 2023.

  

• On 4 March 2021, Temba Bavuma was appointed as the ODI and T20I South African team captain. He went on to captain South Africa in the 2021 and 2022 T20I World Cups and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

• On 24 July 2021, he made his maiden T20I fifty against Ireland with 72 runs off 51 balls.

• Bavuma’s dressing room reaction was turned into several memes after the Netherlands defeated South Africa in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India.

  

• In the 2021 T20I World Cup, he made 91 runs in 5 matches at an average of 30.33. In the 2022 T20I World Cup, he made 70 runs in 5 matches at an average of 17.50.

  

• In the Mzansi Super League T20 Tournament (MSL), he played for the Durban Heat and in the 2019 MSL season, he played for Jozi Stars. In the 2019 County season, he played for Northamptonshire and Northamptonshire Second XI. Sunrisers Eastern Cape acquired him for the 2023 season of the SA T20 League.

  

• In 2017, Bavuma started playing golf. He has also played in several amateur and professional golf tournaments. During his free time, he watches the PGA Tour, Majors, and the Sunshine Tour on TV.

  

• He is the non-executive director of the Khulanathi Property Group and has shares in various investments and real estate firms.

• He often celebrates or parties drinking beer.

  

• Through his Temba Bavuma Foundation, he often gives sponsorships to young cricketers. He identifies such talent through nationwide tournaments.
