- Dhesi’s mother was arrested back in 2012 in India for her involvement in a kidnap and forced abortion case of a 19-year-old girl named Harpreet Kaur, who was carrying a foetus ageing four and a half months.
- He is the chair of Gravesham constituency in Kent and has also held the post of Mayor of Gravesham. He was defeated in the general elections of 2005 from the constituency.
