Some Lesser Known Facts About Sukhjit Singh Gill

• Sukhjit Singh Gill is a Malaysian musician and lawyer. He is one of the members of the popular Malaysian-Indian music duo ‘Goldkartz.’ In 2023, the duo released the song ‘Sab Gazab’ for which they collaborated with the popular Indian rapper Badshah.

• He, and his elder brother, Manjit Singh Gill, formed a music duo ‘Goldkartz’ in 2005. They brought out a new form of Punjabi bhangra music by making a fusion of traditional Punjabi music with Malaysian cadences. Their songs are mainly based on the themes of romance and having fun.

  

• The duo’s debut album ‘Loaded’ (2008) was released in Malaysia under the multinational recording label EMI. The album proved to be a hit for the singers with the sale of more than 5,000 CDs in the country.

• In 2011, the duo ‘Goldkartz’ made their debut at the international level with their second album ’24 Karaatz.’ The album was released in many countries including Malaysia, Britain, and India, under the multinational record label Warner Music.

• In Malaysia, their album ’24 Karaatz’ (2011) was launched by Rosmah Mansor, the second wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak. In an interview, she appreciated the efforts made by the brothers to promote Punjabi bhangra music at the international level through their songs. She said,
  

  Goldkartz’s effort truly manifested the spirit of Malaysia Boleh (Malaysia can), where everyone can succeed provided they work hard and are committed to achieving success.”

  

• The duo made their Bollywood debut as playback singers with the song ‘Mauja’ for the film “Chala Mussaddi Office Office” (2011).

• In 2014, Sukhjit Singh was called to the Bar in front of Justice Zainal Adzam after which he started practising law with a legal firm named ‘Darshan, Syed, Amarjit & Partners.’

• In 2014, the duo ‘Goldkartz’ became the first Southeast Asian group to perform at the Russian-Asian Modern Culture Festival, held in Moscow. In an interview, he talked about this and said,
  

  We are the only Southeast Asian group invited to perform in the festival which will also see participation from Brazil and China groups.”

• In 2015, the duo released the video song ‘Desi Patola’ on various Indian and foreign music channels such as PTC, Tashaan, BritAsia, Jus Punjabi, and Zee TV. The song was filmed at various famous landmarks of Malaysia to promote tourism in the country through the song.

• The sibling duo has worked with various popular British musicians including Rishi Rich, Mumzy Stranger, Tigerstyle, and Punjabi by Nature (PBN) and various Indian musicians including Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, and Badshah.

• The duo collaborated with the Indian rapper Badshah for the 2023 song ‘Sab Gazab,’ featuring Bollywood actress Ileana D’Cruz.
