Some Lesser Known Facts About Shuly Nadar

• Shuly Nadar is an Indian fitness model, callisthenics athlete, and TV personality who gained popularity after appearing as a contestant on the reality TV show MTV Roadies – Karm Ya Kaand in 2023.

• She was born in Tamil Nadu and brought up in Mumbai.

  

• She started working as a school teacher at Vivek Vidyalaya & Junior College in Goregaon (West) in 2022. She worked there for 7 months and then resigned to prepare for a callisthenics competition.

• In January 2023, she participated in the Barbarian Competition and secured the second position in the Guns & Roses category.

  

• In 2023, she came into the limelight when she appeared as a contestant on Season 19 of MTV Roadies. Gang leaders were awestruck by Shuly’s performance during the auditions in which she did 6 squats carrying Gautam Gulati over her shoulders. This was after her opponent Twinkle Chourasia did 5 squats carrying Prince Narula. Rhea Chakraborty won the bid for Shuly Nadar for 4000 Roadiums.

• Shuly recounted a traumatic experience of an abusive boyfriend and chronicled her fight against discriminatory labels owing to her dark skin colour during her auditions for MTV Roadies. When Shuly was 14 or 15, she fell in love with a boy who was six years elder than her. Her boyfriend used to give her compliments for her skin colour which flattered her. One day, her boyfriend’s friend told Shuly that her boyfriend had been beaten up by his parents and wanted to meet her in the night. Shuly managed to get out of her house in the night by lying to her parents. She told them that she was going out to collect a homework assignment from her classmate’s house. Thereafter, Shuly, along with her friend, went to see her boyfriend. Surprisingly, the location was a deserted area with no houses around. There, her boyfriend tried to molest her; meanwhile, another guy walked in on them and shamed Shuly by saying that nobody would marry her due to her dark complexion. The derogatory comments left Shuly humiliated following which she ran away from there. Shuly’s story left the gang leaders emotional and Rhea Chakraborty sympathised with her and encouraged body positivity.
