  • Sanjeev Jaiswal is an Indian Administration Services official of the 1996 batch of the Maharashtra cadre. He has held various positions including Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Divisional Commissioner of Aurangabad, and Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra. He hit the headlines in July 2023 when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned him in a money laundering case involving contracts for Covid field hospitals.
  • In 2016, there was a news story about Sanjeev Jaiswal. He made a public announcement in the media that he would pay for the medical expenses of a 6-year-old girl named Aahana, who had a deformed nose. During an event organized by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Aahana was sitting with other children when Jaiswal noticed her situation.

  • In 2023, Sanjeev Jaiswal came under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) during the investigation of the alleged Covid-19 jumbo centre scam when he was serving as the extra municipal commissioner for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in 2020. According to the ED (Enforcement Directorate), BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) sold medicines for Covid-19 patients at prices that were 25 to 30 per cent higher than what they would cost in regular markets. The ED believed that Sanjeev Jaiswal, who was a member of the tender committee, knowingly and fully aware of the serious violations, signed the important approval documents for this.   • In June 2023, the ED searched Sanjeev Jaiswal’s home as they suspected a scam. During the search, they found property documents worth millions of rupees. It turns out that Sanjeev Jaiswal and his wife own 24 properties in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, with a total value of around Rs. 100 crore.
