  • Samrat Choudhary is an Indian politician who is the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Bihar. In January 2024, he was appointed as the deputy chief minister of Bihar along with Vijay Kumar Sinha in the Nitish Kumar government.

  • Up until 2014, Samrat Choudhary was a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal party. After that, he joined a rebel group.
  • In February 2014, thirteen MLAs defected from the RJD under the leadership of Samrat Choudhary in order to demand their own recognition.
  • He later claimed that RJD President Lalu Prasad was ineligible to hold the position because of his conviction in a corruption case.
  • In the same year, he joined the JD(U) which was then headed by Jitan Ram Manjhi. In 2017, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

    I told him (CM) I have taken a vow to remove him from the throne and the ‘pagadi’ (turban) will get removed the day you are dethroned. I said I also seek your blessing for fulfilling my wish.”
