  • Salima Tete plays in the midfielder position.
  • Salima Tete’s father, Sulakshan Tete, played hockey as a defender for many years and encouraged his daughters to do the same. Her father began training her in hockey with sticks made of Sharifa trees.
  • She joined a hockey academy in Simdega when she was 12 years old and began receiving professional hockey training.
  • Salima used to actively participate in local tournaments where goats were awarded as prizes.
  • She was recognised by Manoj Konbegi, the then president of a hockey academy in Simdega when Salima enrolled in a training school in Tumdegi and began competing in regional competitions.
  • After watching Salima’s performance in local tournaments, Manoj Konbegi took on the task of encouraging Salima’s family to enrol her in Simdega’s professional hockey programme.
  • Salima loves eating food cooked by her mother, and she always requests her to cook Rajma Chawal whenever she is about to come home after tournaments.
