• Salima Tete plays in the midfielder position.

• Salima Tete’s father, Sulakshan Tete, played hockey as a defender for many years and encouraged his daughters to do the same. Her father began training her in hockey with sticks made of Sharifa trees.

• She joined a hockey academy in Simdega when she was 12 years old and began receiving professional hockey training.

• Salima used to actively participate in local tournaments where goats were awarded as prizes.

• She was recognised by Manoj Konbegi, the then president of a hockey academy in Simdega when Salima enrolled in a training school in Tumdegi and began competing in regional competitions.

• After watching Salima’s performance in local tournaments, Manoj Konbegi took on the task of encouraging Salima’s family to enrol her in Simdega’s professional hockey programme.

• Salima loves eating food cooked by her mother, and she always requests her to cook Rajma Chawal whenever she is about to come home after tournaments.

• In 2017, she became part of the Indian squad for the 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship, which took place in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. Salima represented the Jharkhand hockey team and won the championship.

• In 2018, Salima was named captain of the Indian hockey squad for the Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Indian team won the silver in the event finals.

• In 2021, she was part of the Indian squad at the Tokyo Olympics.

• Salima Tete participated and represented India in the 2022 Women’s FIH Hockey Nations Cup in Valencia, Spain. In the tournament finals, the Indian team defeated Spain and won the tournament by a score of 1-0.

  

• In the same year, she represented India at the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. The Indian team earned the bronze medal in the tournament’s final.

  

• Salima was offered a class third employee position in the Indian Railways in 2021, and she joined both the South Eastern Railway and the Railway Sports Promotion Board hockey teams.

• Salima participated in the 2022 Women’s Hockey Asia Cup which was held in Muscat, Oman in which the Indian hockey team won the bronze medal.

  

• In 2023, she represented India in the 19th Asian Games which were held in Hangzhou, China. The Indian hockey team earned the bronze medal in the championship, defeating Japan by the score of 2-1.

  

• In 2023, Salima Tete participated in the 7th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy, which was held in Ranchi, India, where the Indian hockey team won the title by defeating Japan by the score of 4-0 in the finals.

  

• Salima Tete was appointed as the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Athletes Ambassador from India in 2023 for a two-year period, during which she would play a leading role in international athlete representation, growth, and advocacy.

  

• Salima Tete is a close friends with the Hockey players Nikki Pradhan and Sangita Kumari.
