  • She started singing when she was five years old.

  • She once attended an event in her childhood with her parents where everyone was singing bhajans. At the event, she cried for the microphone after which a family friend handed it to her. She then sang a bhajan she often listened to, which surprised everyone there.
  • She was passionate about competing during her school days. She participated in almost every extracurricular activity, including mono acting, handwriting competitions, and dumb charades. She was also part of her school band.
  • When she was very young, her love for competition led her to participate in numerous singing competitions on television shows like Surya TV’s ‘Sapthaswarangal’ where she faced rejection four times before being selected on the fifth attempt. She has also won some singing reality shows like Vijay TV’s ‘Are You Ready.’

  • Saindhavi was 10 years old when she started formal training in Carnatic music. She was once mentored by Sandilyan and K.N. Shashikiran. She did her arangetram, the first solo public performance, at the age of 12.
  • She started performing film songs on stage when she was 13. The first song she sang on stage was the song ‘Snehithane Snehithane’ from the film ‘Alai Payuthey’ (2000) after which she joined a children’s orchestra named ‘Samarpan.’
  • Saindhavi and G. V. Prakash Kumar, an actor, singer, and music composer, were classmates at Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai. They started dating in December 2001 when Prakash was in class 10 and Saindhavi was in class 8. It was during this time that Prakash gifted her a pair of teddy bears that said ‘I love you’ every time they were touched.
  • Saindhavi began singing in films when she was in the 10th grade. She was so dedicated to music during her school and college days that she never went out with her friends or bunked classes.
  • When she was in 10th grade, her voice caught the attention of Deva, a film composer and singer, who offered her the chance to sing three songs for the Tamil film ‘Uyir Ezhuthu.’ The film’s release, however, was postponed.
  • When she was in the 11th grade, she sang the song ‘Andangkaka Kondakari’ for the Tamil film ‘Anniyan’ (2005); the film was released when she was in 12th grade, making her debut as a playback singer.
  • She has sung for many other Tamil films such as ‘Kannamoochi Yenada?’ (2007), ‘Madrasapattinam’ (2010), ‘Udhayam NH4’ (2013), ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ (2020), and ‘Mark Antony’ (2023).

  • Saindhavi often claims that singing for films helped her voice grow. As she faced challenges initially, she took Western vocal music classes from Augustine Paul.
  • She is considered to be one of the youngest playback singers in the Tamil music industry.
  • She has also lent her voice to many Telugu songs for films like ‘Sasirekha Parinayam’ (2009), ‘Ishq’ (2012), ‘Lovely’ (2012), and ‘Janda Pai Kapiraju’ (2015).

  • In 2010, she sang the song ‘Chalisuva Cheluve’ for the Kannada film ‘Ullasa Utsaha.’
  • She has sung songs not only for films but also for various Tamil-language television series like ‘Valli’ (2012), ‘Thalattu’ (2021), ‘Singapennae’ (2023), and ‘Thayamma Kudumbathaar’ (2024).

  • In 2021, Saindhavi joined the ‘Find A Bed’ initiative as a Cause Ambassador. The initiative aimed to help COVID-19 patients by providing real-time information about the availability of beds in hospitals in their area.
