Some Lesser Known Facts About Ravindra Singh Bhati

• While studying, Ravindra took part in the movement to protect university land from being sold for a convention centre, this achievement fueled his political career ahead.

• After being denied a ticket from ABVP, Ravindra fought independently and became the president of the Jai Narain Vyas University in 2019, it was the first time in 57 years in the college’s history that an independent candidate won the president’s post in the student elections of the college. The candidate he defeated in the presidential election was considered a nominee of then CM Ashok Gehlot.

  

• During his tenure as the President of the Jai Narain Vyas University, he fought for various student concerns such as fee issues during the COVID-19 pandemic for which he was jailed multiple times.

  

• In 2021, he led the protests against the Gehlot government demanding 75% reservation in jobs for the youth of Rajasthan.

• In 2023, Ravindra was denied a ticket by the BJP ahead of the 2023 assembly polls after which he fought independently from the Sheo assembly constituency in the Barmer district and won the seat with a vote share of over 31 per cent defeating a six-time sitting MLA.

  

• Ravindra became the youngest MLA in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly when he assumed the MLA office on his 26th birthday on 3 December 2023.

• Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Ravindra announced his candidature from the Barmer Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate; the election commission issued him Apple as the election symbol.

• After being denied tickets consecutively by the political parties in various elections, Ravindra once shared an incident where a pandit told him that he was destined to contest elections as an independent candidate. He said,
  

  Ek pandit ne kaha tha teri kismat mai nirdaliya waala yog hai toh (A Pandit told me once I was fated to be without a party)…I tried with parties but did not get a ticket due to circumstances.”
