Some Lesser Known Facts About Ranjit Chowdhry

• Ranjit Chowdhry was a popular Indian actor who is known for his roles in films, theatre, and T.V  series both in Bollywood and Hollywood.  His character of “Vikram” in the American sitcom The Office (2005) is popular among his fans.

• Ranjit Chowdhry was the son of Pearl Padamsee from her first marriage. Later on, she married Alyque Padamsee and had two children, Raell Padamsee and, Rahul Padamsee.

• Alyque Padamsee, the popular actor, and the ad-man was his stepfather.

  

• Khatta Meetha (1978), Baton Baton Mein (1979), and Khubsoorat (1980) are some of his Bollywood films, for which, he is still remembered by his fans.

• He moved to Cannada in the 1990s to try his luck in North America, and act in movies of the Indian diaspora

• Sam & Me (1991) which was directed by Deepa Mehta, was his first overseas film for which, he also wrote the screenplay.

  

• In Hollywood, he has worked with celebrities like Denzel Washington in “Mississippi Masala” (1991),  Nicolas Cage in “It Could Happen to You” (1994), Steve Carell in ” The Office” (2007-2008), Wentworth Miller in “Prison Break” (2005), and, Queen Latifah in Last Holiday (2006).

• He lived in New York, USA with his wife and a 16-year-old son before visiting India, for his dental treatment and stayed back due to lockdown in 2020.
