• After Ranjana Jha married Udit Narayan in 1984, Udit expressed his desire to become a Bollywood playback singer and moved from Bihar to Mumbai to try his luck in singing.

• After becoming famous in the entertainment industry, Udit distanced himself from Ranjana Jha.

  

• In Mumbai, he began dating Deepa Gahatraj while he was still married to Ranjana.

• Udit and Deepa got married in 1985.

• After their marriage, Deepa changed her name to Deepa Narayan Jha and people recognized Deepa as Udit’s wife.

• Within a year of marrying Deepa, Udit had a son named Aditya Narayan.

• In a media interview, Ranjana Jha said that she wanted to live with Udit Narayan because she was old and unwell. She said,
  

  Udit ji sends 25 thousand rupees every month. In that I have to pay house rent. Have to get your medicine and treatment and stay. It’s not about money. I don’t want money, I want their support.”

• Ranjana Jha mentioned the example of playback singer Kumar Sanu, who remarried only after getting a divorce.

• She said that Udit Narayan remarried without a divorce, which was illegal.

• She appealed to the court to grant her the rights of a wife and to compel Udit Narayan to live with her. She said,
  

  Udit Narayan got married for the second time without getting a divorce, which is illegal by law. If he wanted to marry again, he should have divorced us first. We shouldn’t have been tricked like this.”

• Ranjana Jha said that she supported Udit Narayan during his struggling days and stood by him before he became successful. She said,
  

  I was married to Udit Narayan with full rituals. I supported him during his days of struggle. But when Udit became successful, he left me.”
