In 1977, Ramji contested and won the 6th Lok Sabha elections on a ticket from Bharatiya Lok Dal from the Firozabad constituency by defeating INC candidate Raja Ram Pipal with 2,32,679 votes.

In 1989, Ramji defeated INC candidate Ganga Ram with 2,83,774 votes in the 9th Lok Sabha elections, which he had contested on a ticket from the Janata Dal.

In 1999, he contested the 13th Lok Sabha elections on a ticket from the Samajwadi Party and won the elections with a margin of 83,368 votes.

In 2004, Ramji defeated the BJP candidate Kishori Lal Mahaur in the 14th Lok Sabha elections with 2,12,383 votes.
