Rakesh Kumar was an Indian writer, producer, and director. He is best known for directing the films “Khoon Pasina,” “Mr Natwarlal,” “Yaarana,” and “Do Aur Do Paanch.” He passed away on 10 November 2022 after a long battle suffering from cancer.
In 1973, Rakesh Kumar began working as an assistant director with Prakash Mehra for the film named “Zanjeer.” In 1977, he made his directorial debut with the film “Khoon Pasina.” Later, he produced many hit films including “Dil Tujhko Diya,” “Commander,” “Kaun Jeeta Kaun Haara,” and “Suryavanshi” in which Rakesh Kumar worked with the Indian actor Salman Khan.

Soon after his death, Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartfelt note on one of his social media accounts. He wrote,
Morose is the day .. For another colleague who has left us and me in a particular.. Rakesh Sharma, first AD to Prakash Mehra on ‘ZANJEER’ .. then the independent director for other PM (prakash mehra, as we often joked with him, as the PM of the country ) films .. and singularly – ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Khoon Pasina’, ‘Mr Natwarlal’, ‘Yaarana’, et al .. And such great camaraderie on sets, socially, during events and Holi.”

Apart from being a director, Rakesh Kumar was also a professional actor. He had appeared in some Bollywood films as an actor.
