  • His ancestors hailed from Matani village of Bhiwani district in Haryana. Later, they migrated to Kalri village of Churu district in Rajasthan.
  • Rahul Kaswan was born into a family of politicians.
  • Rahul’s grandfather, Deep Chand Kaswan, was a freedom fighter-turned-politician. He was a prominent leader of the BJP, who served as MP from Churu.
  • Rahul’s father, Ram Singh Kaswan, is also a BJP leader. Ram Singh was elected as MP from Churu four times, in 1991, 1999, 2004 and 2009.
  • Rahul Kaswan’s mother, Kamala Kaswan, was elected as MLA from Sadulpur on a ticket from the BJP in 2008.
  • At 37, he became Rajasthan’s youngest MP when he won the 2014 general elections by defeating Bahujan Samaj Party’s Abhinesh Maharshi with a record margin of 2.94 lakh votes.

  • In 2023, BJP veteran Rajendra Singh Rathore lost the Rajasthan assembly elections from the Taranagar seat in the Churu district. Rathore blamed Rahul Kaswan for his defeat. He claimed that Kaswan supported Rathore’s rival Congress candidate Narendra Budania during the election.
