Some Lesser Known Facts About Rahul Aware

• He was trained under the guidelines of Rustum-a-Hind- Harishchandra Birajdar. 

• He won the Gold Medal at the 2009 Asian Wrestling Championship, the same year, he won the Silver Medal at the Junior World Wrestling Championship.

• Aware is a 5 time Gold medalist in National Championships.

• In 2009, he faced a knee injury after injuring a major ligament and lost in the bronze medal bout in the 2009 Asian Wrestling Championship in Pattaya, Thailand. 

• At the 2011 Asian Wrestling Championship, he won the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 55 kg category.

• Rahul Aware won the Gold Medal at the 2011 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships held in Melbourne.

• He reached the pre-quarterfinals at the 2014 World Championships.

• He has also played in the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) for Revanta Mumbai Garuda. 

• Aware was one of the eligible wrestlers for financial assistance from the Indian Sports Ministry under Target Olympic Podium Scheme, which was aimed at Rio Olympic preparations.

• In April 2018, at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, he won the Gold Medal; defeating Canada’s Steven Takahashi in men’s Freestyle 57 kg wrestling final.
