Some Lesser Known Facts About Poorstacy

• Poorstacy was born and grew up in Palm Beach, Florida, USA.

• He was raised in a family that was deeply involved in music and playing instruments.

• His father taught him multiple instruments when he was a young child.

• When he was a child, he was inspired to listen to rock music and play guitar through playing Guitar Hero (2005).

• From a young age, he drew inspiration from local metalcore and the underground hip hop scene in Miami. He soon started performing live with his band in the local heavy metal, punk rock, and gothic rock scenes.

• Initially, he made music under a number a pseudonyms, including Lito Xantana, Vizion, and Scarybrats. Later, he chose the stage name “Poorstacy,” inspired by the skater Stacy Peralta. He said he liked the story of Stacy Peralta because, even though Stacy didn’t get much attention at the beginning, he became a legend later.

• In 2019, Poorstacy started uploading his music on SoundCloud, where he received 35,000 views in one day.

• In the same year, he released his debut extended play (EP) (a tape of 3-6 songs), I Don’t Care, which was produced by Nick Mira, and released through Internet Money Records.

• Some of his notable songs were “I Can’t Sleep” (2020), which became popular through his collaboration with Iann Dior, and “Choose Life” (2020) featuring Travis Barker, where he shifted from emo rap to punk rock.

• He also gained recognition with “Darkness” (2020) from his debut album, and “Darkest Night” (2020), which was featured on the Bill & Ted Face the Music soundtrack.

  

• Some of his other most talked-about releases included “Hills Have Eyes” (2020), “Nothing Left” (2020), “Public Enemy” (2021) with its strong post-hardcore style, “Children of the Dark” (2021), and “Party at the Cemetery” (2021).

• Poorstacy’s music had been described as emo rap, dance punk, post punk, punk rap, and punk rock, where he incorporated elements of post-hardcore, grunge, alternative rock, pop punk, and gothic rock music.

• In an interview, he shared that for his music, he was influenced by various bands such as the Sisters of Mercy, Billy Idol, XXXTentacion, the Kooks, the Strokes, My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil, AFI, Slipknot, Earl Sweatshirt, and Flatbush Zombies.

• On 29 November 2025, Poostacy died due to a medical emergency while he was staying in a hotel in Boca Raton, Florida.

• According to the report, he was staying in that hotel for the last ten days and had checked in with a woman and a toddler.

• In the morning of 29 November 2025, there was a “medical emergency” with the rapper at the hotel, for which first responders were called to the scene. He was taken to a hospital on a stretcher, where he was declared dead.

• The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner confirmed the death but said the cause remains under investigation, and no one else was injured.

• There were speculations among fans and on social media that he had died by suicide.

• Apart from rapper, he was also a singer and multi-instrumentalist.
