- In 1997, he released his first Bhojpuri music album- ‘Odhaniya Wali.’
- However, he rose to fame after lending his voice to the song ‘Lollypop Lagelu.’
- In 2016, he was awarded the Best Male Singer for the Bhojpuri film ‘Yodha’, at Bhojpuri International Film Awards.
- His wife, Neelam Singh, reportedly committed suicide at their residence on 8 March 2015.
- In May 2024, he filed his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections from the Karakat seat in Bihar as an independent candidate.
- Earlier, the BJP had offered him a ticket to contest the election from the Asansol constituency which he denied.
- On 22 May 2024, the BJP expelled him from the party for contesting the Lok Sabha election against NDA’s official candidate.
