Some Lesser Known Facts About Parimal Nathwani

• Parimal Nathwani was born and grew up in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

• After completing his education in Mumbai, he tried to establish himself professionally there. However, he didn’t get many opportunities, so he moved to Vadodara, Gujarat, and started working at Vadodara Stock Market.

• He has also started a failed soap manufacturing venture.

• In 1995, Parimal Nathwani met Dhirubhai Ambani and Mukesh Ambani, after which his life changed dramatically. Dhirubhai Ambani provided him a fresh start in a major corporate entity. He also considers Dhirubhai Ambani as his mentor.

  

• In 1997, he led several key projects for the Reliance group, including land acquisition for the Jamnagar refinery, setting up petroleum retail outlets, and establishing the Jamnagar Special Economic Zone. Soon, Nathwani became the face of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in Gujarat.

• As of 2025, he became the Director of Corporate Affairs, a position in which he handled high-level coordination, government relations, and strategic initiatives for the group.

• From 1998 to 2016, he served as vice-chairman of the Dwarkadheesh Devasthan Samiti.

• Over the following years, he played a major role in developing Dwarka as a key pilgrimage destination through projects carried out jointly by the Government of Gujarat and Reliance Industries.

• As a vice-chairman, his contributions include the renovation of Gomatighat, the development of Dhirubhai Ambani Marg, Dwarka Parisar, Kokila Dhiraj Dham, improved traffic routes, and the illumination and floral decoration of the Dwarkadheesh Temple during festivals like Janmashtami. One of the most notable recent additions attributed to his efforts is Sudama Setu, the cable-stayed bridge built across the Gomati River.

• In 2004, he was appointed as a member of the Nathdwara Temple Board.

• In 2008, Parimal was appointed as the director of Vodadara Stock Market. In the same year, he was appointed as the director of Gujarat Petcoke and Petroproducts P. Ltd. and Shri Dwarkadheesh Salt Works Pvt. Ltd.

• In March 2008, Parimal entered the Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate from Jharkhand.

• In 2010, Nathwani served as the Vice President of the Gujarat Cricket Association, where he oversaw GCA’s project to rebuild the Motera stadium (now known as Narendra Modi Stadium) at Ahmedabad into the world’s largest stadium.

• From 30 September 2011 to 15 September 2012, he served as the chairman of the Board of Vadodara Stock Exchange Limited.

• In March 2014, he was re-elected as a Rajya Sabha member from the tribal state of Jharkhand.

• As a Member of Parliament from Jharkhand, he worked towards the refinement of the villages he adopted under the Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMSAGY) scheme.

• Over his two-term form Jharkanad, he asked over 615 questions and raised hundreds of issues of Jharkhand, including health, education, rural development, tribal welfare, and rural sports.

• He has spent all of his allotted fund under MPLAD and also used his own money for projects, including building schools, hostels, libraries, sports facilities, improving health and sanitation, and rehabilitating slum dwellers in Jharkhand.

• In October 2019, Parimal Nathwani was elected as president of the Gujarat State Football Association, Ahmedabad.

• On 11 March 2020, Parimal joined the YSR Congress Party in the presence of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and President of YSR Congress Party.

• Since April 2020, he has been serving as a member of the Rajya Sabha from the state of Andhra Pradesh.

• In 2020, Parimal was appointed as the chairman of the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar.

• Along with his political career and serving various top positions in the Reliance group, Parimal also serves as an active member of the Lions Club of Jamnagar, the Rotary Club of Jamnagar, the Jamnagar Chamber of Commerce & Industries, and the Executive Committee of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industries.

• In November 2025, Parimal Nathwani made the headlines due to his son’s wedding at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. A video of  Nita Ambani went viral in which she was giving blessings to Nathwani’s newlywed son and daughter-in-law.
