• He was an American student who was, in January 2016, sentenced a 15-year hard labor after he was found guilty of stealing a poster bearing the name of North Korea’s former dictator Kim Jong-il from the wall of the hotel he was staying. The poster in English read ‘Let’s arm ourselves strongly with Kim Jong Il patriotism.’

• For some unknown reasons, he fell into a coma just after a month of his imprisonment. He was in the coma for 17 long months before he was released and sent back to the United States of America on June 13, 2017.

• Right after when the unconscious Otto landed in the US, he was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for immediate treatment where he was diagnosed with ‘severe neurological injury.’
