• Oti Mabuse grew up in Mabopane, South Africa.

• Oti has been interested in dancing since she was a child. She began learning ballroom and Latin dance when she was 4.

  

• Oti Mabuse had an older half-brother, who took his life at the age of 18. His death had a big impact on the family, and the community treated them with distrust because of how he died.

• Oti began participating in dance competitions at a young age and became an eight-time South African Latin American Championship winner.

• After completing her Civil Engineering degree, Oti chose to move to Germany to follow her passion for dance. During this time, she met Romanian dancer Marius Iepure, who became her first dance partner.
