Some Lesser Known Facts About Nitin Fauji

• Nitin Fauji is an Indian army personnel. He is a resident of the Dongra Jat village of Mahendragarh, Haryana. He is one of two attackers identified by the Rajasthan Police who allegedly shot and killed Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the President of the right-wing group Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS).

• During the investigation, it was discovered that Nitin Fauji was a bright student.

• After finishing Class 12, he chose to join the army and went to Rajasthan to get ready for its physical exam.

• He joined the army in 2019. Later, he was assigned to the 19th Jat Regiment in Alwar. Before that, he was stationed in Jammu.

  

• On 5 December 2023, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a prominent Rajpur leader in Rajasthan, was fatally shot by three unidentified assailants inside his office-cum-residence in the Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur. Even though he was quickly taken to Metro Mas Hospital, he couldn’t survive the injuries and passed away. After the incident, a wanted criminal named Rohit Godara Kapurisar openly said he was responsible for Gogamedi’s murder in a post on Facebook, which read,
  

  Ram Ram, to all the brothers I am Rohit Godara Kapurisar, Goldie Brar. Brothers, today Sukhdev Gogamedi was murdered. We take full responsibility for this. We have got this murder done. Brothers, I want to tell you that he used to cooperate with our enemies. Used to strengthen them. As far as enemies are concerned, they should keep their funeral bier ready at the doorstep of their house. Will meet them soon too.”

  

  Godara had previously claimed accountability for the killing of another gangster, Raju Thehat, in Sikar, Rajasthan. Rohit Godara is affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang. Bishnoi is infamous for his involvement in the murder of the popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022 and for issuing threats to Bollywood celebrity Salman Khan in 2018. Godara’s Facebook post stated that Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was targeted because he allegedly supported their enemies.

  

• The killing of Gogamedi was recorded by a CCTV camera. It showed the two men firing multiple shots at him. Yogesh Goyal, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Jaipur (south), disclosed that the two attackers were recognized as Rohit Rathore Makrana from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Mahendragarh, Haryana. However, some media outlets stated that the two assailants were identified as Rohit Singh Shekhawat and Nitin Fauji. ^[1]Hindustan Times ^[2]The Times of India

  

• During the retaliatory firing, one of Gogamedi’s security personnel, Ajit Singh (also spelt Ajeet Singh), sustained severe injuries, and one of the attackers, Naveen Singh Shekhawat, was killed. The other two assailants quickly fled from the scene. It is reported that Naveen was an acquaintance of Gogamedi. Naveen brought the attackers to Gogamedi’s residence in a car around 1 pm. Initially, the gate guards stopped the car and denied entry, but then Naveen made a call to Gogamedi, who instructed the guard to allow the trio inside the room where Gogamedi routinely met with office-bearers and supporters. ^[3]India Today

• Allegedly, Nitin Fauji was also connected to the gang of Lawrence Bishnoi. Police Chief Umesh Mishra established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh MN to probe the murder. A cash reward of ₹5 lakh was announced for information leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

• Throughout the investigation, Nitin Fauji’s family claimed they had not been in contact with him for the past few weeks. Nitin’s father mentioned that Nitin had gone to get his car repaired on November 9, and he hadn’t heard from him since. Meanwhile, Nitin’s classmates and villagers expressed shock at his involvement in the incident, stating that he was a good student. ^[4]The Times of India
