  • Naman Dhir has been interested in cricket since childhood. Seeing his craze, his family got him enrolled at a cricket academy in Faridkot.
  • He used to score enough marks to pass the examinations but often had very low attendance. His teachers sometimes used to tell his father that he would spoil his son’s future.

  • In 2015, he attended a camp for Under-15 cricketers organized by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). Several other prominent cricketers like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, and Nehal Wadhera were also in the camp.
  • He was later selected for the Faridkot district team and also for the Punjab state team.
  • He made headlines in December 2022 when he made his Ranji debut for Punjab against Chandigarh at Mullanpur.

  • On 16 October 2023, he played his T20 debut match for Punjab against Saurashtra. He later helped his team to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-2024.
  • He came to the attention of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) scouts by scoring 466 runs in the Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup at a strike rate of 193. He was the 2nd highest runscorer for his team and was also the captain.

  • In the 2024 IP auction, MI acquired him for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs.
  • He played at the number 3 position for them. He played his debut match for MI against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad on 24 March 2024.

  • In a match against Ludhiana during the Punjab State Inter-District Senior One-Day Cricket Tournament on 28 July 2024, he scored 137 runs in 66 deliveries with 13 fours and 11 sixes. He also took 3 wickets for 72 runs.
  • In the 2025 IPL auction, he secured the highest contract for an uncapped player in IPL history. MI used Right to Match (RTM) and signed him for Rs 5.25 crores against his base price of Rs 30 lakhs. It’s more than 17 times his base price.
