Some Lesser Known Facts About Medha Shankar

• Medha Shankar is an Indian model and actress who works in the Hindi entertainment industry. She is known for appearing in the web series Beecham House (2019) and Dil Bekaraar (2021) and the film 12th Fail (2023).

• She was a shy kid and wanted to become a doctor.

• Growing up in Noida, she was inclined towards performing arts watching her mother choreograph dances and direct plays for small children in their apartment complex. Thereafter, she actively participated in singing and dancing competitions at school.

  

• She is a skilled singer belonging to a musically inclined family. Talking about the same, in an interview, she said,
  

  Music is an integral part of my family lineage. My dadi had done her Masters in Music and could play many musical instruments including the violin.”

• She received training in Hindustani classical music during her school days. She also learned to play the Sitar, Harmonium, and Keyboard. However, she stopped learning music after Class 10.

• In her college years, she was known for her spontaneous nature as a student. The foyer of her campus was her preferred hangout spot. During an interview, she was questioned about the most unforgettable experience from her college days, and her response was “Bunking classes.”

• She auditioned for a short film during her college days and got selected. Although the film was never released, it paved her way to become an actor.

• In 2015, she played the role of Maya in the short film With You for You Always.

• Medha Shankar initiated her professional journey by entering beauty pageants. She took part in the Campus Princess 2016 beauty pageant, which was conducted by the Miss India Organization to discover participants for the Femina Miss India and Miss Diva pageants.

  

• To establish a career in acting, she moved to Mumbai in 2018.

• In the beginning, she worked as a model and was featured in various TV commercials and print advertisements like Coca Cola, Paytm, and Big Bazaar.

  

• She gained recognition with BBC’s British historical drama Beecham House (2019) in which she played the role of a Mughal princess named Roshanara. The series streamed on Netflix. In the series, Roshanara is the daughter of Murad Beg and a student of the English governess Margaret Osborne.

• In 2021, she appeared in the romantic comedy show Dil Bekaraar on Disney+ Hotstar in which she played the role of Eshwari Thakur.
  

• In the same year, she was cast in the web series Those Pricey Thakur Girls.

• In 2021, she played the role of a 17-year-old named Arshi in the Hindi musical drama film Shaadisthan, which streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

• In 2022, she starred in the film Max, Min and Meowzaki in which she played the role of Min.

• In 2023, she played the role of Shraddha Joshi in the drama film 12th Fail. It is based on the 2019 eponymous non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer.

  

• She lent her voice to the song Bolo Na – Film Version from 12th Fail (2023).

• An avid animal lover, she has a pet, Laila Shankar.

  

• During an interview, when posed the question “Which beauty queen would you prefer to spend time with?,” she mentioned Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

• While revealing her dream role and favourite co-stars in an interview, she said,
  

  Alia Bhatt’s role in Dear Zindagi. Kangana’s role in Queen. I would love to work with Ranveer Singh and Rajkummar Rao.”

• She is a fitness freak and regularly workouts in the gym.
