Some Lesser Known Facts About Margarita Levieva

• Her grandparents are the survivors of the Siege of Leningrad during World War II.

  

• She started learning rhythmic gymnastics when she was 3 years old and was a member of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Olympic team.

  

• Her parents divorced when she was 10 years old.

• When she was 11, she immigrated to the United States with her mother and her twin brother and settled in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.

• According to her, her family moved out of Russia as they faced several instances of anti-Semitism, due to which, her brother would often get beaten up in school.

• Her mother was a professor of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science at a university in St. Petersburg, Russia. Initially, she struggled to find a stable job in America but eventually, she transitioned to a businesswoman.

• She continued to train in rhythmic gymnastics for 4 years after moving to the United States. She was unable to get selected for the gymnastics team as she was an illegal immigrant and was not a citizen of the United States at the time.

• In an interview, she talked about getting accepted into Laguardia High School to study dance but not enrolling in the institute because of her mother and said,
  

  My mom wouldn’t let me go [to Laguardia]. It became a big talk about, ‘We’re immigrants and we have to do something real with our lives.”

• While studying at New York University, she worked as a fashion buyer for Assets London, a high-fashion boutique, to pay for her education. She managed to graduate a year early from the University.

• She has appeared in several films and TV shows such as ‘Vanished’ (2006), ‘Adventureland’ (2009), ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ (2011), ‘The Deuce’ (2017-2019), ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ (2024) and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ (2025).

  

• During an interview, she revealed that she was scared of Russian president Vladimir Putin before starring in ‘Litvinenko’ (2022), a film that deals with the murder of the FSB officer turned whistleblower, Alexander Litvinenko by the Russian government, and said,
  

  Putin is not someone who is OK with people going against him. He takes really serious action in return so I was scared, not necessarily for my life – although that did cross my mind – but I was scared of what it would mean.

  

• She is an animal lover and owns an Australian Shepherd, Betty.

  

• She is an avid horse rider and owns a mare, Savannah.
