Some Lesser Known Facts About Malavika Wales

• Malavika is trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Kuchipudi. She has trained under renowned teachers like Kalamandalam Kshemavathy and Kalamandalam Prasanna Unni.

• Malavika started her journey in the world of classical dancing at the age of 6. She had her Arangetram ceremony at Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple when she was 9 years old.

  

• At the age of 17, Malavika took part in the Miss Kerela 2009 competition; she was the youngest participant (aged 17) that year. However, she only made it to the third round, where she was given the title of ‘Miss Beautiful Eyes’.

• Director Vineeth Sreenivasan saw her pictures from the Miss Kerala 2009 competition and decided to offer her a role in the film Malarvaadi Arts Club.

• Even though “Malarvaadi Arts Club” was her first release, she had previously appeared in Lenin Rajendran’s “Makaramanju.”

• In her Tamil debut film “Enna Satham Indha Neram,” she portrayed a teacher of deaf-mute students.

• It was Malavika’s father’s dream that she become an actress. An astrologer predicted and told her father that she would have a great future in the field of arts.

• It was her father who encouraged her to participate in the Miss Kerala competition. Initially hesitant, after a week of grooming by her father, she gained the confidence to enter the competition.

• After doing Malarvaadi Arts Club, Malavika’s father wanted her to pursue acting as a serious career and they decided that she should enrol in a good acting school. Hence, she enrolled herself in Anupankher’s Actors Training Academy.

• Malavika likes to close movies based on the stories and characters she can relate to. It does not matter to her if the role is a prominent one or a small one.

• While Malavika was shooting for films like ‘Inanna Kalyanam’ and ‘Nandisha’, her father passed away due to a heart attack in 2012.

• After her father’s unexpected death, she experienced depression, prompting her to take a break from acting. However, Sajin Raghavan, the producer of Ponnambili, persuaded her to return to acting after a short hiatus.

  

• There were rumours that Malavika and her co-star Rahul Ravi were dating, but she clarified that they are just friends, and she is not ready for marriage right now.
