• Majiziya Bhanu is a well-known bodybuilder, arm wrestler, and dentist from Kerala.

• She was born in an orthodox Muslim family.

  

• During her school days, Majiziya used to participate in various athletic activities.

• In 2017, she joined boxing classes in Vatakara, Kerala, but on the suggestion of her trainer, she started training in powerlifting. In an interview, she said,
  

  It had always been my dream to learn boxing, but I never got the opportunity. My family did not object to this desire, but we did not have any training centres in our area, especially for women. Even gyms in my area did not have any provision for training women.”

• Within two weeks of training, she participated in the ‘Kozhikode District Powerlifting Championship.’

  

• In 2018, Majiziya won the gold medal in the ‘Mr Kerala’ competition in women’s category organised by the ‘Body Building Association.’

  

• In 2021, she participated in the TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss Malayalam 3.’

• Majiziya always wear a hijab while performing any sport activity, and she is the only Indian hijab-wearing women to win the Asian Powerlifting Championship and Ms. Kerala competition. ^[4]Free Press Journal
