Mahmudullah, initially, was an off-break bowler but is being used as a middle order batsman because of his consistency with the bat.

He is the only cricketer to be addressed with the middle name instead of either first or the last name.

On his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2007, he was the only batsman from his side to climb up a double-digit mark; he scored 36 runs.

It was in 2012 when batting at #7, he made a record by playing an unbeaten innings of 75, thus becoming the highest run scorer for Bangladesh at that spot. He still has the record to his name.

With his consistent batting in ICC World Cup 2015, he emerged as the highest individual score maker for Bangladesh Cricket team.
