Some Lesser Known Facts About Magizh Thirumeni

• Magizh Thirumeni was born and raised in a middle-class family.

• His journey in the film industry started under the mentorship of some renowned film directors and filmmakers.

• Since his young age, Magizh was keenly interested in reading literature. He used to read Tamil and Russian literary works, which inspired him to write poetry and short stories.

• In an interview, he mentioned that he wrote his first short story when he was 17 years old.

• Before film direction and script writing, he worked as a writer in a media firm.

• In an interview, he mentioned that to get a chance in the film industry as a director, Magizh often visited the offices of directors, including P. Vasu and T. Rajender, in the hope of joining their teams.

• In 2002, he got his first break as an assistant director for the film Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002), directed by Kasthuri Raja and his son Selvaraghavan.

• In 2003, he met film director Gautham Vasudev Menon, who signed him as an assistant director for his films Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Kaakha Kaakha (2006), and Pachaikili Muthucharam (2007). Magizh also considered Gautham Vasuden Menon as his mentor, as he helped him in shaping his filmmaking career.

• In an interview, he mentioned that while working with Gautham Vasudev Menon, he learned scriptwriting. In the film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), he assisted him in direction and was also involved in dialogue writing.

• Magizh Thirumeni made his directional debut with a romantic film, Mundhinam Paartheney (2010).  Later, in 2012, he shifted to action thriller with the film Thadaiyara Thaakka (2012). The film didn’t do well at first and got a very poor response. Later, the film was uploaded on YouTube, and it eventually went on to become a hit.

• Some of his other popular films as a director are Thadam (2019), Kalaga Thalaivan (2022), and Vidaamuyarchi (2025).

• Magizh Thirumeni has also acted in some Tamil films, such as Teddy (2021) and Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir (2023).

• After directing action thriller films in his career span, he was labelled as an action film director in the South Film industry.

• In an interview, Magizh once revealed that he has a habit of reading. Some of his favourite authors are Pudhumaipithan, T Janakiraman, and G Nagarajan.

• He once revealed that he invested a considerable amount of time in the research of a film and took almost 8 months to write a script.

• In an interview, he once revealed that he was very bad at selecting titles for a film. He wrote the script first and then decided on the title based on the script.

• Magizh Thirumeni is known for his strong professionalism and loyalty in his work.

• Magizh is not a social person and keeps his personal life away from the media.
