  • Later, he became part of the troupe of legendary theatre-figure Gubbi Veeranna, where he honed his acting skills.
  • It was in one such stage plays that the then assistant director Puttanna Kanagal noticed him and recommended his name to B. R. Panthulu’s next film.
  • In 1976, he appeared in the film Katha Sangama, where his portrayal as Thimmarayi earned widespread acclaim.
