• Logan Verjus van Beek is a New Zealand-Dutch cricket player. He plays for Wellington Firebirds in New Zealand’s domestic cricket and has been a member of the Netherlands national cricket team since 2012. He is a right-handed right-arm fast-medium bowler and all-rounder. In June 2023, his performance in the super over against the West Indies at the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier propelled him to worldwide fame. He came into the limelight after scoring 30 runs and claiming two wickets in the same match.

• Logan van Beek holds a Dutch passport because his paternal grandparents moved to New Zealand in the 1950s. Once, in a media conversation, Beek told about his Dutch citizenship. He said,
  

  My paternal grandparents came over from Holland in the 1950s, and they settled in the South Island. When they had my father, he was eligible for a Dutch passport. And when my father had us, we were still eligible to get a Dutch passport.”

  

• In 2009, he represented New Zealand in the FIBA Under-19 World Championship. He played high-level youth basketball as a point guard.

  

• He worked as a manager and cleaner at Window Wizards from September 2010 to December 2011. In this venture, he helped other young cricketers by organizing cleaning jobs for them in Christchurch and getting customers through recommendations from satisfied clients.

They used to play cricket together using a plastic bat when they were young. The older brothers of Nicholls and van Beek were friends and played on the same team. This friendship allowed their younger siblings to come close and develop a connection. Once, in a media conversation, Beek revealed that he used to live at Tom Latham’s house in Christchurch, and Matt Henry was Beek’s third flatmate for four years. Beek said,
  

  When I finished school and moved out of home, I moved into Tom Latham’s house in Christchurch. Matt Henry was the third flatmate and we lived together for four amazing years. It was easily the most fun time of our lives. Three great mates, all living and breathing cricket, under one roof.”

Sammy Guillen was among the 15 cricketers who had the opportunity to play Test matches for West Indies and Canterbury in the 1950s. Initially, he represented the West Indies cricket team in five Tests during their tours of Australia and New Zealand in 1951-52. Later, he moved to New Zealand and played for Canterbury. Once, in a media conversation, Logan van Beek talked about the life experiences of his grandfather. Beek said,
  

  My maternal grandfather met a bloke in Christchurch and asked him if he could get him a job there because he liked it so much. A few months later, the bloke rang him up with an offer. My grandfather said he hopped on a ship the same day and came over to New Zealand, and a few years later he ended up being a part of New Zealand’s first Test win over the West Indies.”

  

• Logan van Beek played a key role in Netherlands’ victory over the West Indies on 26 June 2023 in a match during the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Following a massive run chase of 375, Netherlands batted second and finished at 374/9 to tie the score with the West Indies. Logan started up by quickly scoring 28 runs during Netherlands’ batting innings off just 14 deliveries in the super over. Logan played at number eight when the Netherlands was struggling at 327/7 and needing 47 runs off the final three overs of the innings.

  

• On 27 June 2023, the Netherlands surpassed West Indies’ previous record of 25 runs scored in a super over and set a new record for the most runs scored in any format at the international level. He scored 30 runs. Logan established a world record for the most runs scored by a batsman in an international cricket super over.
