  • After completing her studies in law and politics, she worked as a teacher in several universities.
  • In 1987, she became the officer-in-charge of Instituto Nacional de Cultura del Perú (INC), a government organisation that promotes and preserves Peru’s cultural heritage.
  • In 1992, she became an alderman (regidor in Spanish) or a member of Lima’s municipal legislative body.
