Kynan wasn’t interested in studying when he was young and preferred sports. He played team sports like field hockey and football in school.
He was also the school’s freestyle swimming champion for three years.
Kynan was inspired by his father to become a professional shooter.
According to Kynan, he promised himself that he would compete in the Olympics one day at a young age.
Kynan began shooting at the age of 10 in 2000 when he started training with his father.
In an interview, Kynan Chenai revealed that in the beginning, he started shooting only for fun. He said,
Initially, I shot for fun. Then, I got used to the game and it ended up becoming an obsession by the time I turned 16. I started shooting when I was 10 and it took me a year to fine-tune my skills, My dad is also my coach. I love sports more than studies and after school, I play football or hockey, running or swimming.”

In 2003, Kynan came fourth in the GV Mavlankar Shooting Championship in Chennai, competing in the 21-year-old category.
He later trained in Chennai under Mansher Singh, a four-time Olympic champion.
On January 28, 2016, he secured one of the four quotas for India in the Men’s Trap event during the Asia Olympic Shooting qualifiers.

In 2016, Kynan captained a team of 75 shooters at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. He came 19th in the men’s trap event in his debut Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Kynan has participated in many international tournaments, including the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games, the 2022 Asian Games, and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
In school, Kynan selected German as his optional foreign language.
Kynan loves dogs and frequently shares photos of himself with his dog, Yeti, on his Instagram account.
