  • Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh was born in a middle-class family in Bihar.
  • He completed middle school education from a school in Jhajhwa and 10th from a school in Shahpur.
  • After completing his formal education, he cleared the Indian Police Services (IPS) examination in 1998.
  • He began the foundation course at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, in 1998. He completed 10 months of training at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, and later trained at Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur.
  • As Amritsar ASP in 1999, he learnt the foundational policing duties.
  • As Patiala ASP in 2001, he continued field training and worked on law enforcement in semi-urban and urban areas.
  • As Ludhiana ASP during 2001–2002, he handled law and order responsibilities in a major commercial centre.
