Some Lesser Known Facts About Kumar Eswaran

• Kumar Eswaran is a mathematical physicist who is known for finding the solution for 161 years old Riemann Hypothesis. This hypothesis is considered the toughest hypothesis out of the top ten unsolved mathematical problems.

• Kumar Eswaran completed his PhD (Theoretical Physics) in June 1973 and joined the R&D division of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), New Delhi, as the additional general manager.

• Kumar went to Ohio State University as a researcher to work in the area of wave scattering and propagation. In 1999, Kumar left Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and started working in Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST), Hyderabad, where he joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering as a professor.

• Kumar is the CEO of Altech Power and Energy Systems Private Limited (ALPES), a firm that provides solutions in the field of advanced computing techniques, power plant engineering, monitoring, and system modeling.

• In 2000, a panel from the Clay Mathematics Institute of Cambridge made Riemann hypothesis a millennium’s problem and offered a prize of $1 million for anyone who would provide a solution to the problem. Kumar published his research publicly about five years ago for the general public to read and review. In February 2020, a committee consisting of eight mathematicians was formed to study the solution published by Kumar Eswaran.

• The eight-member committee had well-known professors from various universities, and one such member was Professor M Seetharaman, a retired professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Madras, who reviewed the solution and said-
  

  The author’s analysis is exhaustive, unambiguous, and every step in the analysis is explained in great detail and established. The conclusions of the author and his result must therefore be considered proven.”

• After finding the solution to the millennium problem of the Riemann Hypothesis, Kumar was often invited to several universities and colleges to talk about his research.

• Apart from physics, Kumar Eswaran also works in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), neural networks, and other mathematical areas.

• Kumar Eswaran has also written a poetry book titled ‘Strands of Verse.’

  While one can easily count the number of prime numbers from say 1 to 20, it becomes a tedious task to calculate the number of prime numbers till one million or 10 billion. The hypothesis was important to prove as it would enable mathematicians to exactly count prime numbers.”
