  • Kul Man Ghising was born in a middle-class family in Nepal.
  • During his teenage years, he moved to Kathmandu for further studies. He studied at Balsewa Secondary School from class seven
  • He received a scholarship to study electrical engineering at Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India.
  • Kul Man Ghising joined the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in 1994 and worked there for over two decades.
  • He served as managing director of Chilime Hydropower Company and later as project chief of the Rahughat Hydroelectricity Project.
  • On 14 September 2016, he was appointed managing director of NEA by a cabinet decision.
  • At the time, Nepal was facing power cuts of up to 18 hours daily during the dry seasons. He stopped the policy of uninterrupted power supply to a few industries and distributed power more fairly to all sectors.
  • He restarted inactive power plants, stored water during low-demand hours, and encouraged people to avoid using high-power devices during peak hours.
