Some Lesser Known Facts About Krishnan Shrijith

• Krishnan’s father was very passionate about cricket and also encouraged Krishnan to pursue cricket professionally. He grew up watching players like Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina.

• Since his young days, Krishnan has been part of every age-group team in Karnataka.

• Krishnan made his T20 Cricket debut for the Karnataka cricket team in early 2021 during the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

• Before making his first-class debut, people around him perceived him as a white-ball specialist.

• Krishnan made his List-A debut against Vidarbha in Rajkot in December 2023.

• Krishnan came into the limelight while playing for the Hubli Tigers, he scored 349 runs in 10 matches of the Maharaja T20 Trophy 2024 tournament, including two half-centuries and a century.

• Krishnan made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy in November 2024 for Karnataka against Uttar Pradesh; he scored a century in the match. He became the 10th Karnataka batter to score a hundred on First-Class debut.

• Krishnan’s father passed away in 2024. Krishnan dedicated his century he scored on his first-class century match to his dad. He said in an interview,
  

  God takes away something to give you something else, Even though I’d earned my T20 and one-day caps when he was there, there was always a sense of pride he attached to being a first-class cricketer. I missed him when I got the Ranji cap. That’s why I dedicated the hundred to him.”

• Krishnan was signed by the Mumbai Indians team for his base price of Rs. 30 lakhs in the 2025 IPL mega auctions in November 2024.

  

• Krishnan once told in an interview that he has remained unsold in the IPL auctions since 2020 and now finally he has got the chance to play in it in 2025. He said,
  

  I’ve been shortlisted in the IPL auctions since 2020, but for uncapped players you don’t really know when your turn comes,” he says. “A couple of my trials had gone well, but I knew there’s a possibility I won’t be picked. It’s happened before that I’ve done well and felt I’d get picked, only to be disappointed. So I was realistic.

• Krishnan scored his maiden List-A century in December 2024 against Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 150 runs off 101 balls and helped Karnataka chase a target of 383 runs.
