• Krishan Bahadur Pathak is an Indian hockey player who serves as the goalkeeper for the Indian hockey team.

• Krishan Bahadur is of Nepali descent and his parents moved to India in the year 1990 for better earning opportunities.

• At the age of 12, Krishan Bahadur joined the Surjit Singh Hockey Academy in Jalandhar as his father always wanted him to have a career in sports and to represent India on a major level.

• Krishan Bahadur used to practice hockey at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala. When he was 14 years old, the teams of Indian Railways and the Border Security Force were having a hockey match at the RCF. At that moment, the team of Indian Railways didn’t have a goalkeeper to play in the match which is why the members asked Krishan to join their team as they had already seen him playing and practicing in the fields. After that, he was selected in the team of Indian Railways.

• His biggest inspiration in hockey is the professional hockey player P. R. Sreejesh.

• After a little while, Krishan Bahadur was included in the Indian Oil Corporation’s hockey team as a goalkeeper.

• At the age of 16, Krishan Bahadur joined the Indian hockey team after clearing the trials of India’s men’s national under-19 field hockey team. He made his international debut with the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup in which India defeated Belgium with the final score of 2-1.

• 2 days before making his international hockey debut, Krishan Bahadur’s father passed away; however, Krishan went to play his tournament and didn’t attend the last rites of his father as he wanted to represent India internationally as per his father’s wish.

• Six months after his father’s death, he played as the Indian hockey team’s lead goalie in the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup.

  

• In 2016, Krishan was also selected for the Mumbai-based hockey team ‘Dabang Mumbai’ in the fourth season of the professional field hockey tournament ‘2016 Hockey India League’ (HIL).

• In 2017, Krishan was included in the selected Indian squad for the 27th edition of the men’s Australian Hockey League which took place in Perth, Australia.

• Before starting his professional hockey journey, Krishan used to work at construction sites where he used to remove debris just to financially support his family as his father being a crane operator was not able to make ends meet.

• In 2017, he took part in the Bombay Gold Cup and represented the Indian Oil Corporation’s hockey team and won the title in the finals.

• Krishan was included in the selected squad of India’s hockey team for the 2018 Four Nations Invitational Tournament which was held in New Zealand. In the same year, his team also won the bronze medal in the finals of the 2018 Asian Games which was held in Jakarta.

  

• In 2017, Krishan Bahadur played in the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup which was held in Bhubaneswar, India.

• In 2022, he played in the 2022 Commonwealth Games which was held in Birmingham, England and won the silver medal.

  

• Krishan was part of the 2023 Men’s Asian Champions Trophy which was held in Chennai, India and the Asian Games 2023 which was held in Hangzhou, China. The Indian hockey team won the gold medal in both the tournaments.

  

• After the death of Krishan Bahadur’s parents, he was raised by his father’s brother, Chander Bahadur Pathak, who lived in Kapurthala.
