Some Lesser Known Facts About Karim Janat

• Karim Janat started playing cricket during childhood. He followed his elder brother Asghar Afghan who also served as captain of the Afghanistan cricket team.

• He later played domestic cricket and also represented Afghanistan in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup.

• In November 2020, his brother Asghar Afghan got engaged for the second time. Afghan already had 1 son and 4 daughters from his first wife.

• In November 2021, he signed a sponsorship deal with Sporoot Sports.

  

• During the 2023 Four-Day Tournament, he made 561 runs at an average of 140.25 with 2 hundred and 4 fifties. He even took 18 wickets, becoming the 3rd highest wicket-taker.

• He played for Afghanistan in the 2021 and 2024 editions of the T20 World Cup.

• He was a member of the Afghanistan team that won the silver medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

  

• On 14 July 2023, during a T20I match against Bangladesh, he took a hat-trick, but Afghanistan lost the game.

• On 24 June 2024, during the 2024 T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh, he and Rashid Khan were batting. On the 3rd delivery of the final over, he refused the second run to Khan, who threw the bat at him in anger.

• In October 2024, he helped Afghanistan win the Emerging Asia Cup.

  

• In the 2024 Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction, Dambulla Thunders acquired him for $80,000.

• In the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Gujarat Titans (GT) acquired him for his base price of Rs 75 lakhs.
