• Karan Brar is an American actor of Indian ethnicity who is known for starring in the film Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and the Disney Channel series ‘Bunk’d.

• While pursuing a bachelor’s degree, he studied acting at John Robert Powers and Patti Kalle’s workshops.

• Karan Brar was only eight years old when he signed his first commercial. Later, he appeared in various Shell Gasoline commercials.

• He starred as Chirag Gupta in the trilogy film Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2011) in which he played the role of an Indian middle school boy. He practised with a dialect coach to become fluent in the Indian accent for the role of Chirag.
  
  He then appeared in the American film Chilly Christmas (2012) in which he played the role of ‘Caps.’ In 2014, he was signed as the voice-over artist for the film ‘Mr. Peabody & Sherman,’ an animated science fiction comedy film.

• In 2018, he played the role of Suresh in the science-fiction film “Pacific Rim Uprising” for which he had to undergo stunt and fight training and follow a particular diet in order to maintain a particular physique required for the role. Later, he appeared in various films such as Stargirl (2018), The Fuck-It List (2020), The Argument (2020), and Hubie Halloween (2020). In 2023, he was the voice-over artist for the character of Jay in the film “Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham” produced by Warner Bros. Animation, an American animation studio.

• In 2011, he starred as a 10-year-old Indian kid, Ravi Ross, in the comedy series “Jessie,” which aired on the Disney Channel; he played the role of a kid adopted by a rich American family who is constantly trying to uphold his Indian culture and traditions. The main character in the series was originally supposed to be an American child named Javier, but the directors were so impressed with Brar’s audition that they had to swap the character of Javier with an Indian boy Ravi. The series ‘Jessie’ introduced him to the world of comedy, which later became his forte.
  

• In 2015, he starred in the series ‘Bunk’d,’ a spinoff of the series ‘Jessie,’ as Ravi Ross alongside Peyton List, Skai Jackson, and Miranda May. Later, he was signed as the voice-over artist for the role of Prince Zandar in the children’s animated television series “Sofia the First.” Later, he appeared in various series such as Pair of Kings (2012), Teens Wanna Know (2013-2015), Pass the Plate (2013-2014), Lab Rats (2014), Chasing LA (2014), The Night Shift (2016), Youth & Consequences (2018), Champions (2018), Schooled (2019), and Epic Night (2019).

• Karan raises awareness about the Cameron Boyce Foundation from time to time through his social media accounts. This foundation was started to honour his late best friend Cameron Mica Boyce (28 May 1999 – 6 July 2019), an American actor who died due to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy Patients). • Karan Brar works towards eliminating various societal issues. He is an ambassador of a non-profit organisation called the ‘Thirst Project,’ which aims at bringing safe drinking water facilities to communities around the world that do not have access to it.

• According to Karan, he makes amazing guacamole, an avocado-based dip.

• Karan Brar, in 2014, had dinner with the President of the United States Barack Obama and Michelle Obama at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll celebration.

• In an interview, while talking about the struggles of being an Indian American actor in Hollywood, he mentioned,
  

  This is extremely cheesy but don’t give up. I’m not going to lie, being an Indian American actor is extremely difficult. Not only are there a lack of roles out there for you but you’re also having to deal with the constant stereotypes people place over you. But at the end of the day if you love what you’re doing, keep going for it because you can’t allow other people to hold you back.”

• In 2020, Karan Brar adopted a cat and named him ‘Max.’

  

• In an interview, Karan talked about being typecasted in American films and TV series and said that he could play a variety of characters rather than just being portrayed as an Indian. He said,
  

  I’m pushing to go for a more diverse set of characters. I want people to see that while I am an Indian guy, I can do a lot more than just be the nerd in the corner. Personally I don’t think people are intentionally stereotyping one another, but especially in this industry a lot of people do it subconsciously. I want to keep working towards a future where those biases and stereotypes no longer exist.”
