  • Sivasankar was an Indian choreographer and actor who mainly worked in South Indian films.
  • In childhood, he met with a major accident and got fully recovered when he was 8 years old. His aunts used to look after him day and night at that time.
  • K. Sivasankar used to attend various drama & dance festivals in his childhood. From there, he developed an interest in dancing and learned the basics of dancing from the famous dancers Natraj & Sakunthala in Mylapore. In 1974, he joined the dance master Saleem as an assistant dance master.

  • He worked as a choreographer in various South Indian films such as ‘Kavikkuyil’ (1977), ‘Khaidi’ (1983), ‘En Aasai Machan’ (1994), ‘Magadheera’ (2009), and ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ (2013).
  • He also worked as an actor in various South Indian films like ‘Varalaru’ (2006), ‘Paradesi’ (2013), ‘N.T.R: Kathanayakudu’ (2019), ‘Pachai Vilakku’ (2020), and ‘Engada Iruthinga Ivvalavu Naala’ (2021).
  • Apart from films, he acted in TV serials like ‘Jothi’ (2021; Tamil) and ‘No.1 Kodalu’ (2021; Telugu).
  • In 2021, he was detected with COVID-19 was subsequently admitted to AIG Hospital in Hyderabad. Due to the lack of finances, his family appealed to the film fraternity to raise funds for his family. A few South Indian actors like Dhanush, Chiranjeevi, and Sonu Sood raised funds for his medical expenses. K. Sivasankar lost his battle of life and passed away on 28 November 2021. On his demise, Sonu Sood shared a heartfelt post on his Twitter account. He tweeted,

    Heartbroken to hear about the demise of Shiv Shankar masterji. Tried our best to save him but God had different plans. Will always miss you masterji. May almighty give strength to the family to bear this loss. Cinema will always miss u sir.”
