Some Lesser Known Facts About Joy Banerjee

• Joy Banerjee grew up in Kolkata.

• He met a woman named Ananya Banerjee during their college days. They soon fell in love and later got married.

• Over time, political differences began to strain their marriage. Ananya joined the Trinamool Congress in 2009, while Joy entered politics in 2014 as a BJP leader. Their opposing affiliations led to their separation.

• After the divorce, Joy moved on and married Ankita Banerjee. Ananya, however, chose not to remarry and instead dedicated herself to her work as a politician, social worker, and entrepreneur.

• He gained recognition for his performance in the film ‘Chopper’ (1986).

• Joy worked in many other films, including ‘Swarga Sukh’ (1986), ‘Hirak Jayanti’ (1990), ‘Pennam Kolkata’ (1992), ‘Jekhane Ashray’ (2009), and ‘Kartiker Biye’ (2010).

• As his health worsened, Joy was put on ventilator support. He passed away on 25 August 2025.
